About this Spotlight

We’re honored to be partnering once again with Northwest Folklife to bring music to the waterfront by artists performing their unique sounds.

Set on Seattle’s waterfront at the newly finished built-in amphitheater of the Salish Steps at Overlook Walk, enjoy a two-hour event celebrating music and culture with the seas, mountains, and city as your backdrop!

Meet the Performers

The Santana Charro Bros

Santana Charro Bros, a Mexican Folklore Youth Dance group, represents the authentic Mexican traditions through Cheer, music and dance. Choreography by Yulenia Santana, also teacher and director of Santana Charro Bros, specializes in teaching the students technique foot work, skirt work, all while the students learn cognitive function, hand and eye coordination, focus, discipline to synchronize their movements with music. We started with 3 brothers and some friends on a patio and rapidly gaining popularity performing at local churches, schools, community events and parties. Santana Charro Bros is always accepting new students ages from 5 to 18, located in Everett.

Karoun Dance Group

Karoun Dance Group specializes in different styles of Persian dances, performing at festivals and cultural celebrations in Seattle and the surrounding area. Karoun means “always going” and is the name of the longest river in Iran. The ensemble’s repertoire includes dance pieces set to both traditional Persian reng and contemporary Persian classical music, regional folk dances of Iran.  Karoun is led by Elham Lawson, a proud Iranian-American who enjoys sharing her love of Persian culture and dance, finding great joy in her work as a Persian dance instructor”

Since 1971, Folklife’s work has been rooted in the shared humanity of connection and creative expression and is driven by intergenerational, intercultural experiences.

They create inclusive, wide-reaching experiences for people of all ages and cultural backgrounds in the Pacific Northwest.

And collaborate with more than 100 Community Coordinators—including respected artists, educators, tradition bearers, and cultural leaders throughout the region.

Their mission: To create opportunities for all to celebrate, share, and participate in the evolving cultural traditions of the Pacific Northwest.

Friends strives to ensure Waterfront Park, and our events are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to everyone.

About Salish Steps: an outdoor amphitheater space providing wheelchair accessible seating.

Event Resources: Accessible seating, reserved priority seating, courtesy wheelchair, shade, charging station, assisted listening devices, and sensory kits including noise-reducing headphones, ear plugs, blankets, scented and weighted neck wraps, fidget toys, etc.
