About Hoops on the Pier

Created in partnership with Rise Above, Hoops on the Pier is a free basketball emersion on Pier 62, featuring a youth basketball camp led by local-area coaches in the morning followed by open courts set up for everyone to join in the afternoon.

Come learn and play basketball with the water, mountains, and city as your stadium!

Know Before You Go

  • Dress for the weather; this event is outdoors.
  • Bring a water bottle; we have refill stations!

Rise Above is a Native-owned and operated nonprofit organization in Washington that engages with Native American youth by exposing them to multigenerational and culturally oriented prevention programs using sports as a modality.

Event Schedule

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Youth Basketball Camp

  • Available to ages 6-16, camps will focus on basketball fundamentals including dribbling, shooting, guarding and team building.

1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Open Courts

  • Basketball courts will be open and available for everyone!

Accessibility

Friends strives to ensure Waterfront Park, and our events are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to everyone.

Waterfront Park is an outdoor space in downtown Seattle providing various amenities such as wheelchair accessible seating, shade, water stations, cooling fans, and ADA accessible restrooms.

At this event, the following resources can be checked out onsite at the Friends of Waterfront Park Info Booth:

  • Courtesy wheelchair
  • Sensory Kits (Includes: noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, headwraps, and other items)
  • Assisted Listening Devices
