About the Event

Seattle Frankenfunk presents The PBJ (The Popping Breakin’ Jam)! Join us for a free 2v2 breakin’ and poppin’ competition over two days in Seattle.

Prelims and Top 8 Battles:

  • When: Sunday, July 28th, 2-5pm
  • Where: Judkins Park Basketball Courts
  • Format: 1v1 battles, with top four advancing to 2-person teams

Semi-Finals and Finals:

  • When: Thursday, August 8th, 6-8pm
  • Where: Pier 62, Waterfront Park
  • Format: Battles between the top four teams

Prizes:

  • Top 4 teams: $150 each
  • Finalists: Additional $100
  • Champions: Another $100

The PBJ revives the spirit of the days when poppers and breakers battled as one crew. This event aims to strengthen Seattle’s street dance community by highlighting connections in hip hop, funk, and Latin music. Expect a hype event with stories and voices from both communities!

About Groove Clan

Groove Clan, founded in 2012, has been the backbone of Seattle’s popping dance education and competition scene since its beginning. Committed to continuing the culture created in communities such as San Francisco, the group continues to host weekly classes and regular battles.

About the space: Pier 62 is an outdoor space in downtown Seattle providing various amenities such as seating, shade, water, cooling fans, and ADA accessible restrooms (see our accessibility webpage for a full list of resources). Waterfront Park is still under construction until 2025, accessible routes/navigation may be impacted.
