Then & Now: Seven Years of Moving with Joy at Waterfront Park

A large group of people dance together on a sunny plaza at Waterfront Park, arms raised, with the Seattle skyline rising behind them.

If you’ve strolled past Waterfront Park, heard music pumping and seen people dancing like nobody’s watching, that’s energy from our community partner, We Move to Give. For seven years, founder Meli Bliss (she/her) and her incredible community (or as she warmly calls them, familia) have shown up to the waterfront with free Zumba master classes, big energy, and even bigger hearts. It all started on the original Pier 58—long before the park was what it is today—and they’ve been here through every chapter since, most recently bringing the party to Sunday mornings in 2025.

This year, Zumba moves to Wednesdays, a midweek dose of joy that everyone is welcome to enjoy. We’ve loved them from the start and the feeling has grown over the years.

We’re taking it back to 2019 to show you the origins of We Move to Give and a flash forward to 2025—getting you hyped for this year’s classes.

Then (2019)

Now (2025)

Seven years later, the music hasn’t stopped and neither has the love of movement. Whether you’re a longtime regular or you’ve been curious but haven’t made it out yet—Wednesday is your new reason to come through. We Move to Give is on the waterfront every Wednesday, free and open to everyone. All you have to do is show up.

Each class has its own theme, taking you on a journey from Latin beats to hip hop, Asian pop to disco, and everywhere in between. Free, open to all, and guaranteed to make you move. Here’s the class schedule:
