The 5K will have three unique start times. You can choose which time is best suited to your needs when you register:
- 7:55 a.m. – You care about your finish time and do not want to get stopped by ferry traffic. You will have 35 minutes of uninterrupted run time. Past 35 minutes you might get stopped for vehicles entering or exiting the ferry terminal.
- 8:20 a.m. – You mostly care about your time, but also wouldn’t bother you too much to stop to let a car or two through.
- 8:40 a.m. – You are a more casual runner or walker, just out with your family or friends enjoying the new waterfront, and would actually welcome a little break to let a few ferry cars through. You will have until 10:00am to reach the half way point (1.55 miles).
The Kids Dash starts at 8:05 a.m., and the Community Celebration will begin after the race around 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m., so join the fun whenever you can!
-
All registration fees and donations will go to Friends of Waterfront Park, the 501c3 nonprofit partner to the City of Seattle responsible for managing and stewarding the park. Your gift powers free community events, keeps the park green and welcoming, and brings public art to life along the waterfront. Every dollar helps create a vibrant, inclusive space where people can connect—with nature, with art, and with each other.
-
The kids dash is a free, out-and-back course with a total distance of .3 miles, starting at 8:05 a.m. Participants will start on Alaskan Way and do a mini loop and finish at the regular finish line. It is free for anyone under 12, but registration in advance is highly encouraged. Adults are welcome to accompany kids if needed during the dash.
-
It is a flat out-and-back course, exclusively along the waterfront. You will start on Alaskan Way and head south towards the ferry terminal, with a water stop at the turn around at S. Massachusetts Street. You will return via the pedestrian path with a grand finish on the brand new Waterfront Park Promenade.
-
Aside from the chance to be part of history with the first ever 5K through Waterfront Park, you’ll get a race t-shirt from Brooks Running, custom commemorative race bib, a finisher’s pin, free race photos, chip timing, fully supported closed course and followed by a free, open Community Celebration (even if you didn’t participate in the 5K).
Please note race shirts are limited quantity; we recommend registering early to ensure you receive one!
-
We strongly encourage walking, riding your bike or taking public transportation! If you need to drive, we recommend utilizing the Bell Street Pier Garage or Pike Place Market garages, as street parking may be limited.
