Friends of Waterfront Seattle presents Pier Sounds: a fall concert series on the waterfront
All ages welcomeCome see sensational regional bands and artists including The Black Tones, D’Vonne Lewis and Friendz, Lady A, and Tiffany Wilson, at these free, family-friendly concerts on Pier 62! Enjoy live music, local food trucks, a beer garden, and all the sights and sounds of Seattle’s waterfront.
After more than a decade, live concerts are back at Pier 62!
Through the 1990s and early 2000s, Pier 62 was home to one of the most iconic and popular music events in the city, Summer Nights at the Pier. These unforgettable concerts helped to solidify Seattle’s status as a crucible for music and culture, and forged a lasting relationship between live music and the city’s waterfront. The Pier Sounds concert series forges this memory with new energy and music on a revitalized Pier 62 to reignite the sense of celebration and community in the place where it all began.

Tiffany Wilson was born in the rich musical landscape of Memphis, Tennessee. Nurtured in the church choir, Wilson was drawn to gospel-rooted legends such as Bobby Womack, Aretha Franklin, and Whitney Houston. Wilson later relocated to Washington state and began her musical journey as a member of SOUL a gospel group signed to Hendrix Records, a Seattle-based label. While a member of SOUL, Wilson’s spark for songwriting was ignited and has burned brightly since. Wilson released her Sophomore album in July 2016, entitled #SEESHARP, a collaboration with indie label WeCoast Records. With this project, Wilson’s plan is to use her pen, voice and outlook to shed some light and love on what’s taking place in our shared world.

Lady “A” is known as “The Hardest Workin Woman in Blues, Soul, Funk & Gospel”.
Lady A pours, Soul, Gospel and a touch of Funk along with storytelling, into her performances, in hopes of inspiring her audience as well as supplying them with great music. Voted 2020 Blues Performer of the Year by the Washington Blues Society, Lady A is always striving to meet the needs of her audience through performance and lyrical education, making their experience in music memorable. She is also the Host DJ on NWCZ online Radio of Lady A’s Black N Blues and Lady A’s Gumbo & Gospel along with KMRE FM 102.3 Radio of Lady A’s The Boss – Blues show.
Always working towards making a better community, Lady A produces The Big Blues Blowout, The Annual Red N White Holiday Affair where she brings awareness to homelessness in Seattle and the Annual Ladies Luncheon which benefits the Rhapsody Music Project in Seattle where she mentors youth.
Truly The “Hardest Workin’ Woman,” Lady A is likened to a pot of Lou-sana Gumbo… best served HOT!

Zhanea June (Zha_Nay-ah June) classifies herself as an artist not stuck in the box and will sing all types of music with a positive message to inspire all. This led her to become the 2010 Washington States Nashville of Country Star winner.
Zhanea June studied at the prestigious Howard University and Musician’s Institute to further her education in singing, composing, dance and theatre, which has led her to perform for various venues such as The Royal Esquire Club, Hard Rock Cafe, Tuskegee Airmen 75th Anniversary Gala Benaroya Hall, Muckleshoot Casino, Iron Horse Casino, The Great American Casino, 88 Keys, Highway 99 Blues Club, Bleu Notes Club in Lakewood, Tacoma Convention Center, Moore Theater, Issaquah Theatre, 13 Coins, and Amazon, and has made radio appearances on the Gospel Show 89.5 and the Vanessa Waller TV Show. Zhanea June also gratefully opened for national recording artist Howard Hewitt, Angela Winbush and ConFunkShun as well as performed with gospel recording great Smokie Norful.
In 2015 and 2016, she released three singles titled “Press”, “Feen,” “How.” In 2018, she released two more singles “Melodic You,” and “I Do”, in 2019, “11:30” was released and in 2020, “You Said” a tribute to people abused by racial injustice!

The Black Tones

Founded by twin siblings, Eva and Cedric Walker, the Seattle-based rock ‘n’ roll band The Black Tones has grown from humble beginnings in their grandmother’s basement to receiving accolades from outlets like KEXP, which named their debut LP, Cobain & Cornbread (recorded by the legendary Jack Endino), the #17 album of 2019; The Seattle Times, which dubbed the group one of the 15 Most Influential Artists of the past decade; and NPR, which named the band one of Seattle’s 15 groups redefining the city.
Also featuring performances from Seattle-based teen pop/rock band THEM, pop punk artist Haley Graves, and DJ Blendiana Jones.

Over the recent years, D’Vonne Lewis has become one of the most frequently seen and widely respected artists on Seattle’s music scene. Like jazz itself, Lewis’ legacy has a deep history and a brilliant future.
Composer/bandleader/poet/drummer D’Vonne Lewis is the grandson of the “Godfather of Rock and Roll/Soul,” 1950s-1960s Northwest organ legend, Dave Lewis. At 32 years old, D’Vonne is already considered to be the best and most versatile jazz drummer in Seattle.
